The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is taking active measures to update and simplify the dot-CA domain registry. The newly remodelled domain name registration system will feature improved technology, updated policies and more effective business practices.

When the new system goes live on 13 October 2010, users will benefit from improved processes related to domain name registration and management of dot-CA. In addition, the system will exhibit a life cycle similar to that of gTLD domains.

The dot-CA domain registry will be unavailable for 24 hours, beginning at 9:00 a.m. EDT on 12 October 2010, to facilitate the launch of the new registry and the migration of data. Individual websites and email addresses will work as usual throughout the process.

Beginning 9 October 2010, in preparation for the switchover, some transactions, including change of registrar, change of registrant, change of critical information, and merge of registrants, will be inaccessible. We will be able to resume processing these transactions for you when the new system launches on 13 October.
